You have Questions - here are the Answers including my Qualifications.
Possibly. If the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or you’re in a conservation area, you’ll need permission from the local council before any work can be carried out. We can help you check and apply if needed.
Yes, we are fully insured with public liability cover and have all necessary training and qualifications for safe and professional tree and hedge work. Safety and quality are our top priorities. Please see our section at the bottom of these questions about our City & Quilds Qualifications.
How much do your services cost?
Costs vary depending on the size and complexity of the job. We offer free, no-obligation quotes after a quick site visit or detailed photo assessment.
We primarily serve South Sheffield and nearby areas, including Dronfield, Chesterfield, and the Peak District edges. If you’re not sure, just ask!
We take away all green waste as part of the service unless you’d prefer to keep it for mulch or firewood. Everything is disposed of or recycled responsibly.
Yes, we specialise in technical removals and trimming in tight spaces. We use the right equipment and techniques to carry out the job safely and without damage.
Most hedge trimming is best done in late spring or late summer, but this depends on the plant type. Tree felling can be done year-round, but bird nesting season (March to August) must be considered — we always check before starting any work.
Smaller jobs can often be done in half a day, while larger tree removals or extensive hedge trimming may take a full day or more. We’ll give you a clear timescale when we quote.
Not necessarily. As long as we have access and clear instructions, we can carry out the work while you’re away. We’re happy to send photos of the finished job if needed.
We work in most weather conditions, but for safety reasons, we may need to reschedule in the case of high winds or heavy rain. We’ll always keep you updated.
Can you provide references or reviews from past clients?
Yes! We’re happy to share feedback from satisfied customers in your area.
Absolutely. We can set up routine hedge trimming or seasonal tree inspections.
I hold City & Guilds Qualifications CS30, CS 31 & CS 38. They are for the following:
CS30 - City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting.
This qualification covers chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting trees at ground level, including aerial and ground work. Training occurs in workshops or woodland environments, emphasising routine maintenance performed by operators. Cross-cutting processes timber under tension, shaping it into manageable sections or specified sizes, often alongside snedding or de-limbing. Extreme tension cases and root-plate severing are excluded. Operators must be properly trained and certified to handle chemicals or machinery in compliance with current legislation. This standard is for chainsaw users.
CS31 - City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm.
This qualification covers directional tree felling using a chainsaw, considering tree size, weight, condition, species, guidebar size, and weather. It applies to coniferous and broadleaved trees in various positions. Operators must be properly trained and certified in accordance with legislation.
CS38 - City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Accessing a Tree Using a Rope & Harness.
The CS38 assessment shows that candidates have the skills to safely climb and navigate a tree’s canopy using rope and harness. It also proves they are able to perform aerial rescues from tree crowns or standing poles. Suitable for those inexperienced in tree climbing, the qualification covers risk assessment, legislation, knots, rope work, movement within trees, and rescue techniques.
